Abstract: | Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injuries are less common than other knee injuries and may result in a spectrum of symptoms and disability. The predictive factors that may determine which patients with isolated PCL lesions will develop knee pain and degenerative arthritis have yet to be identified. As such, the optimal treatment algorithm for these patients remains a matter of debate. This article provides a concise review of the anatomy and function of the PCL, as well as an overview of diagnostic methods and treatment options for patients with PCL injuries.
